Representatives from The Kearney Center, the area’s emergency overnight shelter, are asking Tallahassee residents to participate in the center’s first-ever Fasting Friday on July 21. Intended to draw attention to the issues related to homelessness and to raise money for The Kearney Center, Fasting Friday calls for people to bring a brown bag lunch to work and to donate the money they would have spent eating out to the shelter. Money raised will go directly to funding the emergency services provided to people experiencing homelessness in and around Florida’s capital city.
